SUBMISSION PRESENTATION TYPES

Individual paper session

Each individual paper will consist of a 15-minute presentation plus five minutes for questions. The Scientific Committee will integrate sets of individual papers into thematic sessions of approximately one and a half hours duration.

Symposium

Preferably, each symposium will consist of three 30-minute papers, however the convenor may wish to include more presentations in the time permitted. It is expected that papers within symposia will be thematically linked and interesting to both academics and practitioners. The symposium convenor who will also chair the session, should forward the submission form on behalf of all the presenters, together with copies of the symposium abstracts (both overall and for each individual paper). Symposium presenters should NOT submit their own abstracts individually or separately.

Rapid communication poster session

Poster presentations provide an opportunity for presenters and participants to interact in a less formal environment than that provided by papers or symposia. Each presenter will summarise the main aspects of his or her poster in a five-minute presentation period with two minutes available for question time, before the audience moves to the next poster. As far as possible, posters will be thematically organised.

Practice forum

Practice forums will focus on topics of specific relevance to practice in the field, including topics of particular interest to practitioners or new topics emerging in literature. They should be structured to allow for audience participation and may include experiential material. Practice forums are not intended to be marketing opportunities for particular products or services and submissions primarily of this type will not be considered. Practitioners, especially, are strongly encouraged to consider this mode of participation in the conference. Please note - practice forums consist of 60 minutes total. 45 minutes is allocated to presenting information, and the remaining 15 minutes for dialogue with attendees.

How to session

How to sessions are intended to offer highly practical descriptions of how to conduct a particular type of research or practice in a specific area of grief and bereavement. How to sessions should complete the sentence “How to...”; ...for example. “How to evaluate a support group”, “How to promote a bereavement service”, “How to run a bereavement camp”, “How to effectively design ritual” etc. Each session will consist of a 15-minute presentation plus five minutes for questions. How to sessions are ideal for practitioners who wish to share an aspect of their expertise or experience with their colleagues, however, like practice forums, they are not intended to be marketing opportunities.
